The human brain can process 11 million bits of information every second, but our conscious mind can only handle 40-50 pieces of that information, making us 99% unconscious in our thinking [NPR]. What does that mean. We are all biased. Implicit Bias can lead to negative health outcomes for minorities in health care and can be dangerous in life-or-death situations. This statement “everyone has biases” often makes people feel attacked, but the good news is by acknowledging biases, they can be changed over time with intention and training. This course brings awareness to a subject that is often misunderstood.
